Three Waterfalls That Form Niagara Falls

Geographical Importance of Niagara Falls

12,500 years ago the last Ice Age ended. As the great glaciers of the ice age retreated, erosion of the waterfalls progressed slowly over thousands of years and formed the Niagara Gorge.

In addition to its natural beauty, Niagara Falls is the site of numerous hydroelectric stations and a very popular tourist destination. The fact that the falls are near many major cities as well as the US and Canadian border crossing points and the Great Lakes makes it one of the world’s most accessible large waterfall sites.
